A Sea of Lights
Looking down over a sea of lights,
I find your face in every flame,
And the voices rise above
In perfect harmony
With the echo of my heartbeat.
Looking down over a darkened crowd,
I feel your presence in every shadow,
And in every silhouette
That stood in truthful silence
Upon the field of green.
Looking down over a wave of tears,
I know the sorrow carried in every soul,
For theirs is all my own,
But it does not match the magnitude
That my heart will feel forever.
Looking down over all the people we used to know,
The ones that helped us along the way,
And suffered our ups and downs as we did,
I found I could not change their pain,
Or ease the grief in my own mind.
But looking down upon the sea of lights,
I know that you are here even if you are not,
And that the pieces of me that only fit to you
Will once again be whole someday,
When I meet you in the heavens.
